Since the early
1900s Henry's Market has been part of the
Bennington landscape. Known for most of that time as Salem's
Market, the business moved 4 times before settling in its
current location at 831 East Main Street in 1927. In the spring of
2001 the current owner, Gene Guertin, purchased the business from
the Salem family and since then has expanded the offerings and
business hours.
Gene emphasizes that
while adding to the fresh meat line and offering some new products,
such as several kinds of homemade sausage, that he isn't tinkering
with what's made the business a success—quality goods and friendly
service. Walk in any day and you'll find Gene there.
Gene is also
justifiably proud of his huge, fresh meat selection, where you'll
find everything from homemade breakfast sausage to fresh cut T-bone
steaks. If you can't stop by in person, you can order a number of
products through this website. Remember, we also offer a variety of
smoked meats and cheeses. And, don't forget, Vermont products
make great gifts. We offer three depths of the finest Grade A
Vermont maple syrup. Unlike the syrup available from other sources,
ours is undiluted and unadulterated . . . it's just 100% pure
Vermont maple syrup—that's all!

For its size, Henry's
Market carries a wide array of products. Most important,
Gene gives Vermont products a lot of shelf space. Visitors will
find a wide array of Vermont maple syrup, from gallon cans to handy
miniature gift jugs. Across the aisle, the cooler holds every
conceivable type of Cabot™ cheese and Sugarbush™ cheese,
and behind the counter is a large round of the highly regarded
Vermont "store cheese."
